At 1226 meters above sea level, on Mount Castelvecchio, it is born the river Savio. The Castelvecchio is the continuation of the Smoke Stack, from which was born the Tiber, and near Montecoronaro are the Fosso Grosso sources, Verghereto past, flows into other streams and named Savio. The river runs down the valley and flows into the Adriatic Sea between Lido di Classe and Lido di Savio, in the province of Ravenna.
Its source is a monument erected in the seventies with the image of a wolf, symbolizing Montecoronaro, and a "caveja" typical Romagna. The area is equipped for walks and picnics.
